A public employee is an individual who works for a government agency or department at any level (local, state, or federal). They are paid by taxpayer dollars and perform various duties that support the operations and programs of their respective organizations. Public employees can include teachers, firefighters, police officers, social workers, administrative staff, and many others who work to serve the public interest.
